Matcha green tea is the entire tea leaf, also known as Tencha, finely ground into a powder by traditional stone mills (picture left). Buddhist monks from China brought Matcha to Japan over 800 years ago and used Matcha for meditational purposes. Matcha soothes the body, but keeps the mind alert, which helps concentration.

Unlike green-teas, with Matcha you are consuming the entire tea leaf. Therefore the antioxidant level is up to 10 times higher than in ordinary green tea. Unlike steeped tea, with Matcha you are getting 100% of the nutrients the leaf has to offer. The antioxidant concentration in Matcha is up to 137 times greater than that of green tea.
Aside from delivering a high dosage of catachins, chlorophyll, and antioxidants, Matcha exceeds its superfood competitors such as blueberries, pomegranates and spinach.
