Tea Trivia Day 15

Posted by Kimiko URIU on April 19, 2011 (0 Comments)

What do you think is the average productive life of a tea plant? The correct answer was 30-40 years.

Tea plants are often harvested 4-5 times per season and are then pruned in autumn in order to give the tea plants some rest.

Usually after 40 years the tea plant becomes uneconomic due to a disease and therefore they get ripped out and a new one is planted. There are of course tea plants that are 120 years old or wild tea plants that are older, however this is not common practice.
