Tea 101 Part I

This is a course for tea enthusiasts, retail stores and restaurants that serve tea and who want to learn all you can about tea. If you have a busy schedule and cannot come to a pre-set date, we also teach this course through teleconferences or do private coaching.
  • Tea History
  • What is Tea
  • Where does the plant grow
  • Why all teas are different, etc
  • The manufacture of black, green, yellow, white, oolong, pu'erh and flavoured teas
  • Tasting teas from each of those categories
  • Recognising good quality tea
  • Loose tea & tea bags - different types, advantages & disadvantages

  • Perfect brewing and different ways to brew
  • Cupping introduction and comparing teas

Tea Cupping Classes

The course teaches you how to evaluate teas. You will learn how to taste and talk about tea. You will find out what the difference is between “tasting” and “drinking”.  We will be using professional cupping equipment and working with standards used by tea experts.

The cost per course is $145 and includes: 
  • a tea tasting set
  • pallet cleansers
  • handouts 
Professional Series or Private Lessons
This course prepares you for becoming a Tea Sommelier. We teach you the right tea terminology, tea processing and cupping techniques. At the end of this course you will be able to create a tea menu for retail or any other tea business, as well as have an in-depth understanding of the history and regions. The professional series will be held in 4 parts.
